Youth and Children

Youth Ministries

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) at First United Methodist Church (6th-12th grade)

The UMYF currently meets with Rev. White and a team of parents on Sunday evenings at 4:30pm. You are invited to join us for relevant, passionate, and Christ-centered youth meetings. On the second Sunday of each month, the UMYF provides a meal to a particular, local, at-risk, population through Teens Opposing Poverty. Each summer, the UMYF participates in a work mission.  In 2013, they went to Monroe Park in Richmond, VA where they ministered to the homeless. In 2014, they went to Belize to help with construction projects and education at a UMC children’s school.  In 2015, they went to Mountain Top, TN to assist in various construction and missions projects in Appalachia. In 2016, they went to Cortez, CO where they helped members of the Ute Nation, living in poverty, by cleaning and fixing up homes and community buildings.

 Youth Sunday School

Our youth meet during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45am, Sunday mornings).  Prior to breaking into their classes, they join together for a snack breakfast, provided by the parents.
